The Google Pixel C, the Android-powered answer to the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, just hit the UK with prices starting from £399.

Having been unveiled alongside the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X smartphones earlier in the year, the Pixel C tablet has now been priced for its UK launch, with the slate hitting retailers’ shelves with immediate effect.

Powered by Nividia’s 64-bit Tegra X1 processor and 3GB of RAM, the Pixel C pairs a stunning 10.2-inch, 2560 x 1800 pixel, 308ppi display with an 8-megapixel rear-mounted camera and secondary 2-megapixel selfie snapper.

It’s not just under the hood that this slate’s impressive, though. The 7mm thick, 517g anodized aluminium body is as easy on the eye as Apple’s market-leading iPad Air 2.

Running Google’s latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS direct from the box, the Pixel C can be paired with an additional, similarly styled, keyboard attachment to transform it into a true laptop rival.

Coming in two guises, 32GB and 64GB storage options, the Pixel C will set wannabe owners back £399 or £479 depending on capacity.

The keyboard will hit you for a further £119 – ouch.
