How do programs go from command lines to video games and online applications?
I’ve programmed very little, but I’ve only ever run one in a command line. How does a program go from a command line to video games or the programs installed on our computers?

They go the same way that the command-line one does. The only difference is that such complex programs base on visual libraries which make it possible to draw user interface and automate graphics. What about program installation – there are special tool kits such as Windows installer XML (and many others), you just have to set all needed parameters and paths for desired installation.
